Inspirational Stories Podcast

Brief summary of show:

In this week’s episode, Natalie chats with Jill and Dave Henry, authors of the new book called The Greatest College Health Guide You Never Knew You Needed.

Jill and Dave Henry met coaching high school sports in Los Angeles and have been working with teens for nearly fifteen years. With every graduating class, they’ve fielded their student-athletes’ concerns about the transition to college. Determined to help, the Henrys decided to leverage their combined professional skills in research, study design, data analysis, and storytelling (Jill is a veteran statistics teacher, Dave is a Peabody-award winning TV and film editor) to create an entertaining yet informative resource with the goal of preparing all students to enjoy college without sacrificing their health.

The book was written with one goal in mind: to help students take care of their physical, mental, and emotional health when on their own for the very first time.

Listen in as Jill, Dave and Natalie talk about:

  • The need of health and fitness education in kids

  • How to set healthy habits before kids go off to college

  • Tips to deal with stress

  • How to reframe failure
